Senior Tax Assistance Yarmouth (STAY)

In an effort to help seniors stay in their homes, in 2016, the Town of Yarmouth  launched a program to provide property-tax assistance to residents who are 67 years old and over and have lived in Yarmouth for at least 10 years. (Town of Council, Ordinance Chapter 507). If you have questions, call Town Hall at 846-9036 or email Town Clerk Lisa Grant at lmgrant@yarmouth.me.us. Applications are due April 30, 2024.

To participate in Yarmouth's STAY program, all required documentation must be submitted annually. 

To be eligible for the program, you must meet all the following qualifications:

  1. 67 years of age or older as of filing deadline of 4/30/24 (April 30, 1957)
  2. Homestead in the Town of Yarmouth
  3. Resident of the Town of Yarmouth for at least 10 years
  4. Combined household income does not exceed $107,550
* Refund only applies to the principal residence whether owned or rented.
* One applicant per household - eligibility shall be determined based on total household income.
* Total Income will be the same as calculated on the applicant’s IRS Income Tax Return form.
