The mission of this office is to enhance the waterfront and nautical experience in our community. Along with enforcing state law and municipal ordinances governing Yarmouth’s shores and coastal waters, the harbormaster oversees five major Town mooring fields, maintenance and upkeep of Town docks and float systems, and the shared dinghy program at Madeleine Point. In his capacity as Shellfish Warden, the Harbormaster also enforces local and state laws regarding the digging and harvesting of crustaceans in his jurisdiction. The Harbormaster maintains a 21’ Pacific all-aluminum center console patrol boat, which allows staff to respond to emergencies in Yarmouth’s waters and to assist the Coast Guard and surrounding harbormasters when called upon.
The Harbormaster's office is located at the end of Old Shipyard Road, at the site of the Town landing and boat launch. There is also a picnic area for residents, mooring holders, boaters, and visitors to enjoy.
